Project Experience
24th Ave NW Pier and CSO Outfall
Seattle, WA
Served as the owner’s project manager to deliver a replacement pier and combined sewer overflow (CSO) outfall system from pre-design through construction and closeout. Developed memoranda of agreement with Seattle Department of Transportation and local tribal governments. Other services included consultant contracting, project controls, design management, permitting, community outreach, and construction support.
The project delivered multiple benefits including public pedestrian access to the waterfront and improvements to water quality and wildlife habitat. The pier is also designed for construction and industrial equipment loads and mounted with a CSO outfall beneath the pier deck.
Ship Canal Water Quality Project Ballard and Fremont Conveyance Systems
Seattle, WA
Served as the owner’s project manager to deliver conveyance systems to manage excess combined sewer flows and connect to the Ship Canal Water Quality Tunnel from pre-design though design and construction. Services included consultant contracting, project controls, design management, permitting, community outreach, and temporary construction easement support.
Ship Canal Water Quality Project Envision Certification
Seattle, WA
Provided strategic planning and sustainability goals for the Ship Canal Water Quality Project leading to an Envision Platinum Award for project improvements to community quality of life, leadership in sustainability, and design innovations to address climate change and resilience.
P393: Wastewater Treatment Plant Replacement
Naval Air Station Fallon, NV
Served as the design manager from planning to design completion for a 0.75 million gallon per day (MGD) Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) with tertiary treatment and associated operations building.
Primary functions of the plant include Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD) removal, nitrification and de-nitrification. Key performance requirements include redundancy to scale operations for energy savings based on a highly variable influent flow and base population.
The project met all requirements of an Administrative Order on Consent with the State of Nevada and US Environmental Protection Agency.
P880: Rotary Aircraft Maintenance Facility
Naval Air Station North Island, CA
Served as a civil engineer to complete civil site design including, demo, site, grading, utility, and restoration plans. Delivered a drainage study for the project that included low-impact development features.
P113: Advanced Water Treatment
Marine Corps Base (MCB) Camp Pendleton, CA
Served as a design manager for this design-build (DB) project to deliver a drinking water plant with reverse osmosis (RO), liquid phase granular activated carbon (LGAC) and corrosion control chemical injection from pre-award, including negotiations through design completion and construction start. This project was fast-tracked with site construction beginning prior to final design.
The project also includes a brine disposal conveyance pipeline over 9 miles long from the 24 Area of Camp Pendleton along Vandegrift Blvd to Del Mar Beach.
Services included leading the design development phase and coordination between the DB team, MCB Camp Pendleton, and other agencies including the California Coastal Commission, Regional Water Quality Control Board, California Department of Public Health, San Diego Air Pollution Control District, California State Lands Commission, and the City of Oceanside.
This project supported the base’s goal of 100 percent wastewater reuse and made use of an existing 3 million-gallon reservoir, reducing impacts in Haybarn Canyon.
P535: Aircraft Maintenance Hangar
Marine Corps Air Station Yuma, AZ
Served as the civil designer of record to complete civil site design including, demo, grading, drainage, and restoration plans during design and construction.
The project’s low-impact development features included underground storage and infiltration under the parking facilities for stormwater runoff from the adjacent airfield parking apron and taxiways.
